The site shows space weather. It knows almost nothing about its visitors, by design.

What is stored in your browser

• ss_theme: the chosen theme: dark, light or system. One year.
• ss_lang: the chosen page language. One year.
• ss_sess: the sign-in token, only after signing in. 30 days.

There are no other cookies. No visit counters, ad networks or third-party tracking scripts.

What the server sees

The usual web server log: address, time, requested page, browser type. It is kept for a limited time, for overload protection and error analysis, and is not shared with anyone.

External resources

Fonts come from Google Fonts and the chart libraries from cdnjs. Those services see your address when the files load, as on any site with external fonts. Space weather data is fetched by our server and served to you from it; your browser never talks to NOAA or the observatories.

Accounts

Registration is optional and only serves personal settings. The account stores e-mail, name, language, theme and sign-in date; the password is kept as a one-way hash. The confirmation code arrives from notify@starfsu.com and is valid for 20 minutes. The sign-in is kept by the ss_sess cookie for 30 days and can be closed with Sign out. The e-mail is never shared and is not used for mailings without your consent.
